If I am to die tomorrow…
February 8, 2007 by nursham
Okay, I think I pick the title to make it look a bit cathcy… Not so serious thinking required while reading this article… ehehehe.
I asked this question to one of my friend: If you are to die tomorrow, how you rate your life from range 1 to 5 which 1 means poor and 5 means excellent.
He said it will be 2. Because they are still a lot he didn’t achieve. But actually life here (as in this world) is always empty. The ultimate destination is the judgement day. The real measurement will come later… he said.
Hehehe… I understand and agree with him. But that is not what I asked for. I think I didn’t ask the question correctly.
Probably I should ask this way: Do you wish you do more in your life than you currently doing? If it is something possible, will you do it now? OR would you like to stay in the safe side of your life (assuming now is the safe side)? If you like, do give your opinion.
"If you are going to die today. Will you be satisfied?": the question is originally asked by my dear friend (who is not Muslim) in the search of; one - how to live your life to the fullest and two - to solve my dilemma (let’s not go there yet).
me: If you ask me NOW. Yes. I am very satisfied with what I have done. It far from perfect but it is ok.
ttp: then just continue what you are doing now.
me: I am not sure I will answer the same if you ask me again in the next 5 years…
ttp: why is that?
me: well, it is the same with my question to you last time. You worked in a very prestigous company, with good salary, good prospect, good working environment. How come you let it go?
ttp: boredom? in the context we talked last time, we are talking about job. There is no context of boredom in life. It’s either you live or you die.
me: there is
ttp: wanna be the next aristotle, meh? hehehe.
me: drop the topic
ttp: hehehe. ok ok. the point is: How you want to live your life.
me: meaning?
ttp: think about it. how do people live their life?
me: well, it pretty obvious…
ttp: yes, what normal people do; go to work, make an income, have a happy family…
me: is there any opposite side of it
ttp: of course. continue to be odd like me and like what you use to be when you were a student…
me: ok. but there is nothing wrong with it.
ttp: yup. and there is nothing wrong with being normal either. actually it is easier… heheheh.
me: why did we even think about doing what we are doing?
ttp: creating a better world i guess…
me: yea… we are real dreamers…
At the moment of the conversation, I think of Nazi… she loves joining walfare and social services (can I call it that way Nazi?). Go to orphanage house, helping people in need… She is an example of a person who live her life to the fullest I guess.
It also reminded me of a say: Erti hidup pada memberi…
